It is found that the migration from India is dominated by the GCC countries. The six GCC countries together accounted for about 96% of labour outflows from India (based on emigration clearance numbers), thus highlighting the importance of the India-GCC migration corridor. The main factors leading to attractiveness of Middle East are economic strength, relative political stability and modern infrastructure. Saudi Arabia was the most popular destination for Indian migrants, due to ease of availability of jobs to unskilled labour along with higher wages compared with India.
